Virginia R. Townsend
1922-2012
Virginia R. Townsend, went to be with her Lord on April 3, 2012, at the age of 90 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born in St. Joseph on January 31, 1922, to Charles and Etta Pixler and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1939. She married Raymond E. Townsend, Sr. on February 8, 1941 and lived all of her married life in St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and a son, Raymond E. Townsend, Jr., in 2005. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her son, Michael W. Townsend (Iola) of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Erin Graham( Aaron), Greenville, South Carolina, Eric Townsend (Shauna), Clinton, Missouri, and Marcee Townsend, Seattle, Washington; and three great-grandsons, Keaton and Kaiden Townsend and David Graham.
Graveside Services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery on April 6, 2012. The Family suggests memorial gifts for American Heart Association.
I am so sorry for your loss. I am extending my Heart Felt sympathy to Aunt Virgina’s family. She & I enojoyed some wonderful times together when I lived here in St. Joseph for a few Months back in 1967-68 while my Wonderful Husband Frank A. Pixler , Jr (deceased Oct 2010 ) was over seas on Navy Ship. . She would come to my house to visit & bring fixings for a Pizza a few times. Also she would call me to go around town with her or have me & my Son Gary to her home for dinner. That was so wonderful of her & I remember her with fond memorys.
