
Gennie Farris
1925-2012
Gennie Farris, 86, Faucett, Missouri died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 31, 1925 to Fred and Juanita Elizabeth (Faucett) Farris in Faucett, Missouri.
He married Evelynn “Smokey” Green on March 30, 1951 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 28, 1997.
Mr. Farris served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Los Alamos, New Mexico where he was part of the exploding of the A-Bomb.
He owned and operated Farris Truck Lines from 1946 to 1976, following that he built Farris Truck stop in Faucett, Missouri and was a partner in Barlow Truck Lines until 1991.
Gennie was a member of Faucett Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Edwin F. Farris and Marion Farris; and sister-in-law Dorothy.
Survivors: his three children, Fred Farris (Gina), Faucett, Missouri, Michael Farris, Faucett, Missouri and Sandra Lindsay (Jim), St. Joseph, Missouri; four grandchildren, Gena, Emily, Robert and Michael Lindsay; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Farris; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Elbert Bennett.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Faucett Cemetery. The Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Monday. The Family suggests memorial gifts to Faucet Cemetery, Faucett, Missouri.
