      Betty J. Swenson, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. 

      She was born April 17, 1934 to Edward W. and Florence (Shelton) Shuck.

      Betty married Bob “Swede” Swenson on July 29, 1954.

      Mrs. Swenson was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed painting. She was also a housewife and mother who loved her family and friends very much.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward W. Shuck, Florence  Shuck-Haynes; step-father, Cecil Haynes; and infant twin sister, Betty Jean Shuck.

      Survivors: her husband, Bob; children, Lorie Swenson, Layth Swenson (Jenny), and Julie (Stan) Dickerson; aunt, Jenny Jordan; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; first cousin, Jerry Shuck; and several nieces, nephews, additional cousins, and friends.

      Services:  10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday.  The family suggests memorial gifts to First Baptist Church, St. Joseph.

    Betty was always ready to invite us into her home. She loved to provide a meal and hospitality to us, her cousins from the Kansas City area, when we stopped by to see her. We will miss her
    smile and love for all of us.
