Helen D. Green, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, August 17, 2012 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born in Kavala, Greece on July 1, 1923 to George and Parthena Savvopoulo Savapolous.
Helen married Douglas E. Green on June 11, 1950.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker and caregiver. She was also a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Kansas City, Missouri, Little United Nations Club, and the VFW Post #1668.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; her parents; brothers, Sava Savapolous and Christos Savapolous; and sister, Donna Price and her husband, Charles.
Survivors: her son, George Green; brother, Alexander Savapolous (Sotiria); sister, Tausoula Yacoumatou; godchild, Angel Ray; nieces, Katerina Yacamatou and Neni Savapolou; nephews, George Savapolous, George Savapolous, Jerry Yacoumatos, and David and Robert Price; and sister-in-law, Vula Savapolou.
Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 2:00 P.M. The family suggests memorial gifts to a charity of the donor’s choice.
