Irene Dimmick Bireline, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.

She was born September 2, 1926 to Ira Richard and Eva Vinetta (Anderson) Dimmick in Lewis, Kansas.

She married Frank Robert Bireline on June 3, 1955. After 49 years of marriage he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in teaching, she taught in Kansas for eight years then later at Bode and Edison in St. Joseph for 26 years.

Mrs. Bireline was a member and elder of Brookdale Presbyterian Church, Past Matron of the Order of the Easter Star, Pearl Chapter, member of Delta Kappa Gamma, past president of the Retired Teachers Association and Who’s Who of Science Teachers in St. Joseph. Irene was also an avid writer.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Marcia Gee.

Survivors: son, Thomas Bireline; daughter, Ruth Bireline; sister, Lovelle Wood; brother, Richard Dimmick (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services:  3:00 P.M. Monday, Brookdale Presbyterian Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Sunday. Flowers are appreciated and for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to Special Olympics or Friends of the Free Clinic, 904 S. 10th St. Ste A, St. Joseph, MO 64503. Mrs. Bireline will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service.

    Dear Ruth – words seem so inadequate right now. I am so sorry. I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Irene. Her stories were so funny and can still make me laugh. She had such a wonderful dry wit! She was always so loving and kind to me. She will be greatly missed.
