Joseph W. Carr, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 9, 1954 to Virgil and Ruby (Mitchell) Carr in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was a graduate of Savannah High School and Missouri Western State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He was a member of the National Softball Association, YMCA, Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church since 2003, Savannah High School Alumni Basketball, MOILA, and was a Past President of Sertoma.

Joseph loved to golf and recently became interested in the process of making his own wine by starting to grow his own grapes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: wife of 35 years, Tammy Carr, St. Joseph, Missouri; four children, Elexis Kathryn Bustin (Elizabeth Mary), Kingston, Pennsylvania, Caleb Joseph Carr (Megan Kincaid), St. Joseph, Missouri, Alyssa Janel Carr, Fairfax, Virginia, and David Ryan Carr, St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Clover Lilly Carr, Liam Michael Bustin, and Isabel Kathryn Bustin; brothers, Larry Carr (Pat), Rosendale, Missouri and Jerry Carr, Florida; sister, Nancy Lillard (Rodney), Rosendale, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service:  1:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Thursday.     My heartfelt condolences to the family. Joe and I reconnected as friends at our class reunion. We shared a love of wine and had some great evenings of conversation , catching up on our lives. I knew Joe had battled cancer and was struggling to move forward in life . I’m sorry I didn’t stay in touch more often. He was a great guy. He was my Pappy Yokum to my Mammy Yokum in Lil Abner at SHS. Joe left this Earth way too soon. I hope he is now pain free and forever at peace.
