Rita S. Neill, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 16, 2013 at her home.

She was born June 19, 1949 to Hazel Staggs in Wayne County, Tennessee.

She retired from NMPRC with over 25 years of service. Rita also worked as a waitress and formed many friendships over the years.  Rita loved her family and grandchildren very much. She will be sadly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Al Strantz.

Survivors: mother, Hazel Strantz, Spring City, Tennessee; daughters, Elaine Newey (David) and Lisa Dawson (Alan); granddaughter, Tara Newey; grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan Newey and Brady Dawson, all of St. Joseph; and many friends and co-workers.

Services:  10:00 A.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.  The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.

    You will be missed by many people. I have known Rita for quit a few years and worked with her at the hospital. She was one of the most honest, hard working, caring and compassionate person I have known. She also cleaned my home and will hard to replace. Her lived for her grandchildren and family.     I am proud to say I am Rita’s granddaughter. This is a very hard time for her family and friends. I have never felt so empty inside.     When I got the message on Monday about Rita I was in the Dallas airport and wept openly. Rita was such a blessing to our family and we treasured our friendship. She was an incredible lady who always went above and beyond when she worked for us. She spoke of her family often and loved her daughters and grandchildren so much. I am so sorry for your loss, she will be greatly missed.

    I HAVE KNOWN RITA SINCE SHE STARTED WORKING AT WOODSON CHILDREN HOSPITAL. SHE WAS A VERY CARING, KIND AND HONEST PERSON. GOD MUST HAVE NEEDED ANOTHER ANGEL AND CHOSE RITA. MY CONDOLENCES TO HER FAMILY.
