Obituary for Albert Edward Mason

A. Edward “Ed” Mason

Edward “Ed” Mason, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, came into the presence of the Lord on Friday, November 3, 2017 at King City Manor.
He was born June 19, 1946, to Evan Logan and Twylia Grace (Summers) Mason in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Ed married Susan Marguerite Mason June 7, 1970. She preceded him in death November 1, 2017.
He graduated from Chillicothe High School and earned an MBA from Northwest Missouri State University. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Community Regional Director in Butler, Missouri. An avid learner, Ed had other careers in banking, insurance, and teaching and loved his time coaching.
Ed was a patriot at heart; he loved his country and the Lord. He served in the Army in Vietnam and following the war served as a Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood. Ed understood sacrifice, desired to be a bold witness for Christ and lead his family well. His sense of humor, wise counsel, encouragement and smile will be greatly missed. Aside from faith, family and friends, Ed loved reading, bridge, time with friends at the YMCA and his dog Wesley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Survivors include his two children, Scott Mason (Margaret), Gastonia, North Carolina, and Katherine Cole (Tom), Liberty, Missouri; grandchildren, Anna, Logan, Abigail, and Adam; and brother, Larry Mason (Sally), St. Louis, Missouri, and numerous treasured extended family and friends.
