Obituary for Aloha Ann "Lou" Humbard

Aloha Ann “Lou” Humbard, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at Mosaic Life Care after a brief illness.
She was born January 20, 1939 in St. Joseph to Joseph B. and Daisy Ann Hosp.
She graduated from Lafayette High School then went to Oklahoma City to pursue a career in communication with Western Union. She worked at several locations in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. It was at the Coffeyville location that she met her future husband, Leon “Gene” Humbard, he preceded her in death. Her final job with Western Union was in St. Joseph, where she and Gene resided and raised their family. Lou then went to work for the Quaker Oats Company. She received many promotions during her 35 years of service; the last position being Supervisor of Traffic & Transportation and Inventory Control Coordinator.
Lou attended church and was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church. She was a member of the Quaker Ladies Club, ABWA, the St. Joseph Traffic Club and several other professional and social clubs during her lifetime.
She enjoyed her family and hobbies such as adding to the many collections she had accumulated, buying and selling antiques, cooking and gardening. Lou loved her cats and all the creatures and birds that would visit her window feeder daily.
She was also preceded in death by her parents: sisters, Arowannah Starling, Valoye Kempton and brother, Daniel J. Hosp.
Survivors include son, Jeffrey A. Humbard (Kim), Goodwell, OK.; daughter, Carla J. Humbard-Kolega (Sean), Lenexa, KS; granddaughter, Natalie Kolega-Cantrell (Brett); six grandsons, Nick, Bill and Joe Kolega, Chris, Tyler (Krista), and Colt Humbard, and great-grandsons, Ty Humbard, Cale Humbard; great-granddaughters, Adilynn and Hailey Humbard and Adelaide Cantrell.
There will be no formal service at this time. A memorial will be placed at Ashland Cemetery.
The family will gather with friends 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the St. Joseph Food Bank, Inter-Serv, or the Friends of the Animal Shelter.
