Chester J. Gilmore

Chester J. Gilmore, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Carriage Square Health Care.
He was born June 12, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles Otis and Mary M. (Kemp) Gilmore and moved to St. Joseph, Missouri at a young age.
Chester married July 4, 1952, to Rae Ann Hester, who survives of the home.
He was employed at Quaker Oats before retiring in 1987.
Chester was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene, Clayton, Willis, Robert, and Donald; and sisters, Margaret Owen, Shirley Garvey, and Mary Ann Hollingsworth.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Christina Crain; sons, Charles “Chuck” Gilmore (Judy), Steaven Gilmore (Linda), Mike Gilmore (Rita), and Rick Gilmore; sister-in-laws, Ada Gilmore and Judy Jenkins; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Saturday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory and one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers are appreciated and for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund or Mosaic Life Care Hospice.
