Steve J. Vertin

Steve J. Vertin, 69, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
He was born March 19, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois to Louis and Mary (Scott) Vertin.
Steve served as coach and Dean of Students for Bishop LeBlond High School from 1999 - 2015. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
He enjoyed coaching, teaching, telling stories, reading the sports page and loved keeping up with his grandchildren. Steve had a strong faith in the Lord.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Cindy Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Cindy (Atchity), sons, J.L Vertin (Amy), Jason Vertin (Betty); grandchildren, Emma, Lexi, Caleb, Max, Reece, Chance, Rowen, Charlie and Mary Vertin; siblings, Gail Bessey, Greg Vertin, Mike Vertin, Dee Lenner, Toni Walker and John Vertin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Parish Rosary 5:00 P.M., Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to MRC, 312 Greenhouse Court, Hastings, Nebraska 68901, to support his three grandsons fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
