Susan Marie Cady Walter

Susan Marie Cady Walter departed this life September 24, 2017, at the age of 98.
She was born April 3, 1919, to Lyman James and Louise Lena Schneller Cady in McPherson, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Norman LeRoy Walter on August 29, 1944, in McPherson, Kansas. They were blessed with six children.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Midland Art Association and the St. Joseph Writers Guild. She was active on the Young at Heart board for the St. Joseph News Press for over 27 years, where she made numerous word puzzles and stories. She loved to paint and had been in many shows and art exhibitions for over 40 years.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Elizabeth Jane (Homer) Hulse and Dorothy Louise (John) Harbort; brothers, Harry Lyman (Virginia) Cady and Herman Andrew Cady; Robert Schultz; daughter-in-law, Judy Gayle Walter; sister-in-law, Charlotte (Keith) Neely; and husband Norman LeRoy Walter.
She is survived by her children, Stephen James Walter, Lenexa, Kansas; Michael Cady (Joyce Marie) Walter, Pamela Kay Nagle, Mary Louise (Mark Christopher) Barnes, and Mark Walter, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; and Sharon Sue (Mike) King, Phoenix, Arizona. Susan is also survived by grandchildren, Grant Thomas (Ashley) Nagle, Nicolas Walter Barnes, and Sage Marcus Barnes, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; Colby Allen Walter, Savannah, Missouri; Brandon Michael Walter, Ty Mantle Nagle, and Cady Mariah Walter, all of Kansas City, Missouri; Dr. Bryan Lee Nagle, Colby Kansas; Lindsey Cady (Josh) Jamison, Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Christopher Scott Hayes, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Stephanie (Ken) Preston, Flagstaff, Arizona; and Chris and Robert Brunner, Shawnee Mission, Kansas. There are thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Flowers are appreciated and for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
